July’s independence day festivities continue, this time with Cuba in the spotlight. From Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, July 25 Chef Chico offers Cuban specials such as Pork Tostones (pork, plaintains, pepperjack cheese, orange mojo $8.95) and Short Rib Ropa Vieja (braised short rib, jicama, carrots, red peppers, mango bbq sauce, sweet mashed potatoes, corn, onion strings $26.95). Celebratory libations include Havana Punch served in a coconut; Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri; and Frozen Pina Colada for $11 each (available all day).
In celebration of Columbia’s Independence Day (Monday, July 20), Nacional 27 will offer Columbian food and drink specials from Thursday, July 16 to Saturday, July 18. Chef Chico’s mouthwatering menu specials include BBQ’d Pork Arepas (Pork, pepperjack cheese, guacamole $7.95) and Asado de Cordero Con Papas (lamb, scallions, broccoli, red peppers, roasted potatoes, lemon $25.95). What’s an independence day party without cocktails? Stop in and sip housemade RUM-chata, Columbian Mojitos and Aquadiente Caipirinhas for $11 each (available all day).
Starting Tuesday, July 7, we’ll pay tribute to The Encierro, or Running of the Bulls, in Pamplona, Spain with five days of food and drink specials through Saturday, July 11. Chef Chico features traditional items such as Calamari ala Plancha (roasted garlic, spicy sarzuia sauce, crostini, $9.95) and Seafood Paella (black mussels, scallops, shrimp, chorizo, olives peppers, chayote, piquillo sauce, $26.95). Be sure to “run” in for a variety of cocktails on special all day long, including Strawberry Basil Bajito; Passionfruit Caipirinha; and Sparkling Sangria ($10 each).Taking the sweeping universe of flavors, cooking styles and ingredients from the 27 countries comprising Central and South America and the Latino Caribbean islands, Nacional 27's menu showcases tapas, empanadas, tiny tacos, ceviches, seafood, steak and Latin comfort foods.
